Anthropologist
A lifelong interest in bettering the human condition led Evan to a degree in anthropology, with emphasis
in the following areas:
- Sustainability
- Human Ecology
- Climatology
- Paleoecology
- Cognition
- World Systems
All of these areas of study coalesce into an understanding of the relationship between humans and their environment,
both built and natural.
System Designer
Evan has applied his academic background in systems theory and cognition to a variety of technical design disciplines within
the software industry. These include:
- Web Design - HTML, DHTML, CFML, JS, T-SQL, AJAX
- System Architecture - complex, distributed applications and systems with multiple component and user types
- Database Design - logical and physical modeling, data mapping for system interaction and migration
- Process Design - Integrating manual and automated processes for maximum quality and efficiency
- Information Design - brand, web, print, and software user interface
Project Manager
Seven years of experience have made Evan a veteran project manager. This includes project leadership in a management capacity as well as consensus based
leadership of teams and ad hoc committees of dissenting stakeholders.
Evan has extensive experience with traditional "waterfall" style project management (used by the construction industry)
as well as integrated "iterative" project management. He has experience with a variety of project management methodologies
and tools as well as experience creating project and team specific tools and methods.
Business Technologist
Evan is a seasoned technology leader, both with high
technology companies and also traditional companies and organizations in the music, travel, construction, and motorcycle industries.
Evan has gained this experience through a variety
of roles, including several acting CTO positions, VP of Engineering, Director of Engineering,
Director of Quality Assurance, Program Manager, Director of Professional Services, Development Lead, and Quality
Assurance Lead.
Getting the Job Done
Experiences as an Eagle Scout, Wildland Firefighter on the Wyoming Hotshots,
and sustainable forester have given Evan a serious penchant for rolling up his sleeves
and getting his hands dirty. That "can do" attitude followed Evan into his professional
career and resulted in hands on experience with a whole range of technologies and tools.
Although Evan excels at long and medium range strategic planning, project execution, and
team management, he has never lost his love of jumping in and lending a hand with the
"dirty work" when that is what it takes to get the job done.
