Kifaru Forums
Kifaru is a first rate outdoor gear maker started by Patrick Smith (after he sold Mountainsmith). Patrick is a guy I consider one of the founders of the modern gear revolution. His company maintains a forum where I post regularly under the username "evanhill". You can check it out here.

Welcome

Hello.... an introduction to what's on evanhill.org v4:

  • Essays - Some folks would call it a blog.
  • Projects - My projects. Lot's of outdoor gear, some other stuff as well.
  • Journeys - Journeys I've taken. A fair number of photos, courtesy of my flickr feed.
  • History - Stuff I've done. Slowly migrating it from my v3 site, or just getting lazy and linking to it directly. As I get older, I find that the most valuable function of this archive is simply being able to figure out what I was doing and when.

Below you'll find a couple of my photographs, displayed at random, courtesy of the folks at flickr.

Lastly, I found this Cormac McCarthy quote while resurrecting an archive of my very first personal website. It seems fitting to present now:

The road has its own reasons and no two travelers will have the same understandings of those reasons. If indeed they come to an understanding of them at all. Listen to the corridos of the country. They will tell you... the shape of the road is the road. There is not some other road that wears that shape but only the one. And every voyage begun upon it will be completed whether horses are found or not.
